Be My Escape

I remember walking into that Christian bookstore, nine years ago, clutching my $15 giftcard. I already knew what item I would buy. I had heard Relient K via Elena, and I was finally purchasing their Anatomy Of The Tongue In Cheek album.

Ever since that fateful day I've been a huge fan. Until August, I had never seen them in concert! My good friend, Joseph (pictured above), invited me to their concert. They are definitely still one of my favorite bands and I was so excited to be at their concert.

Elizabeth Joy

Our dear friends, the Rectors, have been in the adoption process for quite some time now. Earlier this week, they got the long-awaited phone call from the agency! They will be traveling out of the country in about two weeks. For those of you who are unfamiliar with the adoption process in this specific country, the Rectors will have to go twice to the country and on the second trip will bring Elizabeth home. Please pray for them as they are making preparations for their trip.

Because of some in-country concerns, their blog has been made private and the name of the country as well. As soon as their blog is public again, I will update this post so that you can view it.

I'm so excited to meet Elizabeth Joy soon!

Dear dumpling--uh, I mean-- Mica,
I'm aware that it is no longer the 14th in Dubai, but it is here!
Well, no special entitlements come with turning 18...19, except the fact that you get to add bigger number to your age [insert cheesy smile]!
You are a special, dear friend and sister, but different from Elena or Nicole!
Like the shop owners in Dubai say, " Same, same, but different."

Dear Baby Webb

Dear Baby Webb,

We all can't wait to see you, kiss you, and take many, many pictures of you!

Some thoughts from our small group

We recently finished our small group class for this semester and we participated in one based off of A Portriat of Paul by Rob Ventura and Jeremy Walker. Here is the book's product description:

"What does a true pastor look like, and what constitutes a faithful ministry? How can we identify the life and labors of one called by God to serve in the church of Jesus Christ? To address these questions, Rob Ventura and Jeremy Walker examine how the apostle Paul describes his pastoral relation to the people of God in Colossians 1:24-2:5. By discussing these essential attitudes, qualities, and characteristics of a faithful minister of Christ, A Portrait of Paul provides gospel ministers an example of what they should be, and demonstrates for churches the kind of pastors they will seek if they desire men after God's own heart."

Among many things, this book has showed me a great deal of what elders must bear as shepherds. The book describes what elders should look like according to scripture, what burdens they bear as elders, and how I ought to pray for them. It also talks about church members and fellow Christians and what their role is in the church and as it relates to elders. It was very insightful to understanding the ministry of the apostle Paul and how, ultimately, our greatest model is Christ and His faithfulness to the church.

Happy birthday, Caro!

Happy 15th birthday, Caro!

How special it has been to call you my sister and my friend.
I pray that the Lord would reveal Himself to you and draw you to Himself; that He would make you a new creature for the service of His Kingdom.

I'm sorry you are sick with the flu on your birthday and I'm very sorry that I was the one who gave it to you but at least you got to have your birthday breakfast before you got sick :).
